chagall

Sun Oct 26, 2003, 9:26 PM
i visited the chagall exhibit at the SF MOMA this friday. it was stunningly, awesomely, annoyingly crowded. there was a line down the block, and inside it was nearly impossible to manouver in to see certain paintings, and apparently it's been this way every day since it opened. their biggest show in ten years.

while slightly frustrating, this blows my mind. it's like the harry potter phenomenon - while i may not understand it entirely, it is unlikely and beautiful, i am eerily encouraged by it. as if i should have hope for humanity or something.

the art really was inspiring too. rich and playful, and it's kind of cool that he became the reknowned artist he was with apparently no concern for human anatomy. he was almost a cartoonist.
